PET OWNER OBEDIENCE
Mill Creek Kennel’s obedience programs designed for the non-hunter pet owner who wants their canine to be a well-behaved citizen at home and away. Pet owners of all kinds understand the frustration and safety factors involved with a pet that simply doesn’t obey their owner. Our programs focus on control and confidence for both pet and owners so the dog understands that you are in charge.
There are three levels of Obedience training that include Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced. Each level is four weeks in duration and requires owner participation to learn the necessary handling skills.
- Basic begins teaching the Sit, Down, Here(Re-call), Pivot and Reverse Heel, maintaining steadiness
with light distractions on leash. Basic prepares the dog to pass the AKC Canine Good Citizen test. - Intermediate transitions the dog's basic commands to remote positions learning control off-leash.

CANINE GOOD CITIZEN
Mill Creek Kennels is proud to be an AKC certified Canine Good Citizen Training and Evaluation Center. As an approved CGC site, Mill Creek Kennels has instructors and evaluators that can train and test for the 10 step requirements
AKC requires for the certificate. The CGC Program is a two part program that is designed to 1) teach responsible dog ownership to owners and 2) certify dogs that have the training and behaviors needed to be reliable, well-behaved
members of their families and communities.
The CGC Program welcomes both purebred and mixed breed dogs. The CGC Test is noncompetitive and dogs are not required to perform with the same precision required in formal obedience. Dogs that pass all 10 items of the CGC test, are listed in the CGC records at the American Kennel Club. Owners of dogs that pass all 10 items of the CGC test may order an official CGC certificate from the American Kennel Club.
